The Treatment of the Poor - Saxon times to 1600.


Description - This course covers the tratment of the poor from Saxon times to 1600. It deals with topics such as tithes, the Vestry, the various Poor Acts feom 1388 to 1600 and discusses the poor in East sussex. It concludes by explasining where various records may be found and gives a bibliography for further readind and/or research. .
This course is the first in a series on the treatment of the poor. FR17 (1601 to 1833) and FR18 (1834 - 1940) are the other two.

Duration - 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
