Back in the freezing and snowy weather of last November/December. Members will hopefully re-call that I - on behalf of the Committee - distributed a Questionnaire/Survey to ascertain if your Committee were aspiring to your wishes and thoughts on the way our Society is managed and your thoughts for the future.
The results were duly presented to the Committee on the 22nd February this year - the first opportunity - and were discussed at length and action taken where necessary.
It wasn't a complete surprise, but nevertheless the response was extremely dissappointing, only 43 responses from a Membership of 287 which equates to just under 15%. Postal responses equated to 26 (60.5%) and email responses equated to 17 (39.5%). However, the Committee takes heart that out of those 43 responses 97.7% valued their Membership of "Family Roots". By way of this report the Committee wish to thank all those who took the time to respond, it is very much appreciated.
So that all Members are aware of the Questionnaire/Survey Results, it has been decided to publish them in the Magazine and if any Members wishes to peruse the "Suggestions" put forward, please drop me a line at
davelyn84@hotmail.com The results will also be posted on the Website.
The exercise was time consuming, but useful. It has to be assumed that those who did not make a response have no complaints and we can therefore regard ourselves as having the support of the Membership in general. No-one identified any serious omissions in the way the Society is currently run and there were no substantial suggestions for a change in direction.
These Results should not be the end of the matter, as your views count and the Committee would encourage all Members to talk with any of the Committee if they have suggestions on improving the running of the Society. It is your Society, your thoughts are important to us !
~
I would like to finish and record my thanks to Russell Ridout for his professional assistance and advice with the e-mail response side of this exercise.
